More than a dozen members of First Presbyterian Church, Athens, traveled to Tyler on Sunday, Jan. 6, to worship with Church Under a Bridge, which encourages area ministries to engage alongside the homeless, poor and disenfranchised residents of East Texas. FPC members also delivered two carloads of handmade quilts to distribute to the homeless. The quilts are produced through FPC's "Ugly Quilts" ministry, which meets regularly at the church. For more information on Ugly Quilts, please call (903) 675-3530. You can find Church Under a Bridge on Facebook.
FPC Athens members and youth helped pack dozens of meals on Saturday, October 26, for The Rebecca Project, a nonprofit that provides hot meals to local elderly and disabled citizens of Athens. The Rebecca Project prepares meals every Saturday morning in the FPC fellowship hall and is always in need of volunteers to prepare and deliver food. For more information click here.
The temperatures were perfect on Saturday, October 12, as church members and their families gathered at the Neills' home in Athens for the annual church picnic. The menu included pork medallions with raspberry chipotle sauce, hot dogs, bratwurst, sauerkraut, deviled eggs, various salads, dessert and tea. A big thanks to Cole Air Conditioning & Appliance Co. for helping load and deliver our tables and chairs to the event!
