Musical Opportunities

Do you love music?  Singing or playing? Here are some of the many opportunities you have to join us in song, as we worship the LORD.

If you would like more information about one of these, please contact the church office at 903-675-3530 or via email at secretary@fpcathens.com.

Praise and Worship

In the early service at 8:30 a.m., Kara Davis leads us in musical worship, with a variety of contemporary, praise and worship songs.  She is accompanied by Mary Hortman on the piano. The songs we sing are upbeat & easy to learn. Please come join us!

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir sings in the 11:00 a.m. service. The choir is led by Director of Music, Janis Capelle.  Practices are at 2:00 pm Sunday afternoon in the sanctuary of the main building.

Many of our singers have been members of the Chancel Choir for many years, but we always welcome new members to the choir at any time of the year.

Handbell Choir

The Peg Cain Hand Bell Choir has played together for several years under the leadership of Mamie Downing. They play in worship each season & add to the musical joy of our Christmas music programs. We have a membership of 12; out of those, there is a bell quartet that plays for special programs & in worship. The handbells perform using a 5-octave set of Schulmerich bells, and a 3-octave set of Schulmerich hand chimes.

The FPC Ringers, as they are affectionately known, practice each Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall classroom.  If you are interested in joining this musical group, please contact the church office for more information, at 903-675-3530 or via email at secretary@fpcathens.com

Men for Him

September 2022 marked the beginning of the 12th season of this chorus, under the direction of Ted Schroeder.  We encourage members to bring friends who love to sing to the first rehearsal.

We are a chorus who sings a cappella four-part barbershop style religious music, and is made up of over 20 men from area churches. We love to sing, share our faith through music and enjoy each other’s fellowship as we practice weekly and then perform.

Men for Him rehearses each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

If you have any questions, either about joining us or scheduling us to come and sing for your next event, contact the church office via email at secretary@fpcathens.com.
