Grief
Support Group Our church hosts a Grief Support Group on Wednesdays
at 12 noon in the Church library. The group is led by Sara Carlson of
Genesis Hospice. The group is always open to new members. Participants
bring their own lunch to this meeting. If you, or a family member, are
experiencing grief from the loss of a loved one, please consider joining
this group. There is no cost.
Christmas
Benevolence Program The Loaves for Christmas benevolence program
helped 39 families and the residents of two local nursing homes this
year. The objective this year was to help fewer families but to provide
significantly more assistance to each. That goal was met with great
success. Thanks to Harold Rash who headed the program, and to all of
the volunteers who interviewed the families and assisted in acquiring
the needed goods and services for those being helped.
Food
Pantry Our local food pantry was started by members of this church
and others in our community. The Food Pantry serves clients that have
been screened through the HELP Center for eligibility. Our members and
others work as volunteers to staff the pantry to assist those eligible
clients. Many food drives are held throughout the county, and in our
church, to collect non-perishable items to assist others.
Fuel
Fund Our church was instrumental in starting the Fuel Fund by working
cooperatively in the community to develop a system to assist citizens
with utility bills. Our church budgets funds to be used to assist people
with utility bills, and special offerings are collected as well. Many
residents of our county benefit from this program. Eligibility is determined
by the HELP Center staff.

Labor
of Love The Labor of Love was developed by members of this church
and others to assist people with maintaining safe homes. Twice a year
"work days" are scheduled for volunteers from our church and
others to complete repair projects. The Labor of Love staff screens
applicants and determines eligibility for the program. Volunteers meet
to form teams to paint, build wheel chair ramps, repair unsafe floors,
windows, etc. In addition to the schedule work days, projects are completed
by volunteers throughout the year. The Labor of Love project is on schedule
to complete 60 projects in 2003. Among the many volunteers from our
church who help with these repair and renovation projects is Gary Chasey
who serves as president, Nell Velvin who serves as treasurer and Steve
Grant who is on the board of directors. Additionally, Sharon Chasey
works diligen tly as the coordinator for the many projects undertaken
by Labor of Love.
Mother's
Day Out Our church provides space and support to the Mother's Day
Out program which is administered by Brenda Tarter. Safe child care
is offered to infants, toddlers and children in a Christian environment
on Tuesdays and Fridays at a nominal cost. The program was established
more than twenty years ago. Support for the program is provided by the
"Friends of Mother's Day Out", a group of women whose children
currently attend the program, or have attended in the past.
