Meals of Kindness
Many thanks to those of you who volunteered your time to plan, prepare, serve and clean up the Thanksgiving Meal of Kindness. Our church joined with eleven others to assist in this effort.
Remember, you can volunteer for any meal. They are scheduled for the last Wednesday evening of each month. Volunteers are needed starting at 4:30 p.m.
Did You Know?
The steeple on our (former) Education Building,
now the office wing, was placed there when the
addition to the original 1910 church was built in 1948.
The steeple cupola houses the carillon chimes.

WHAT IS THE RAINBOW ROOM?
The Rainbow Room is a valuable emergency resource center that benefits the families who are served by Family Protective Services (FPS) in Henderson County. It provides FPS with new items to assist abused and neglected children and families in a crisis situation. The Rainbow Room’s shelves are filled by our community’s generous donations to help the case workers provide a support structure of clothing, diapers, formula, toiletries, and other basic life-sustaining aid for families in need. There are times when children must be removed from their homes, and they literally have nothing with them; so the Rainbow Room is there with the basic needs -- plus a toy or book!
Our local Rainbow Room actually began in space provided here at First Presbyterian Church. Thankfully, it has grown over the past ten years and is now located in the new FPS building at 420 Athens Brick Road. We are also establishing a smaller “Raindrop Room” at the new FPS office in Seven Points.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the Rainbow Room will once again hold its Brown Bag program. The Brown Bags are widely distributed throughout the community. In each bag is a ‘wish list’ of items that we need at the Rainbow Room to help our case workers assist the children of Henderson County. You may either shop for the needed items or donate a check to the Rainbow Room, and we’ll do the shopping. Your generosity is deeply appreciated. Please pray for the neglected and abused children in our county and for the wonderful FPS employees that work to help them every day. For more information about The Rainbow Room, please contact Adele Weber at 903-675-1107.
