Our History

The First Presbyterian Church of Athens was established in May1855 by Reverend Robert Hodge with nine founding members.  The church has served the Athens area for over one hundred and fifty years.   While history is important to our members, we live in the present and plan for the future.  We are a growing congregation, dedicated to serving God in practical ways in our church and community and learning to live more like Christ.

Church News
     
* Parents: we have forms for you to sign if you want to give us permission to place your child’s picture on our website. We are trying to collect the signed forms soon so we can add pictures as they are available. Please contact the church office or look for the forms in the church kitchen on Sunday mornings. You may also print the form off our site, click link to go to Permission Form page.

* The Honey Bees Birthday Club meets on the second Friday of each month for lunch to celebrate all those who have birthdays during the month! Please call Bobbie LeBlanc at 903-675-2860 or Cathie Pearson at 903-675-5296 to make your reservation.

* Tapes and bulletins of Sunday worship services are available for those that are unable to attend worship. Please contact Phyllis Kidwell to be added to the delivery list.
